Do you know a lot of unimportant information? If you do, you should come and compete against ELC instructors to see who knows more unimportant information. This is your chance to win against ELC instructors! Instructors answer questions written by students. Students answer questions written by instructors. Ten questions will be chosen as “prize” questions.

Topic: What’s the Connection?
This workshop will show you a new way of looking at language learning. You will discover the secrets of lexical ‘chunking’ in a fun, competitive game. Once you learn about lexis, fixed and semi-fixed expressions, collocations and other language chunks, you will find that it helps you to improve your listening, vocabulary, grammar, writing and speaking skills.

Learn their strategies for success.

Topic: Writing Personal Essays
If you are planning to apply for further studies in the U.S., Canada, U.K., or Australia, this workshop can help you understand what you need to write for your personal statement, which is one of the required documents you must submit along with your application. Come learn how to write for the specific audience of Admissions Officers.

Do you have a smart phone with a QR code reader (can be downloaded for free if you don’t)? Do you have friends? Do you like hunting for treasures and solving puzzles? If you answered yes to all three questions, then this event is for you! The hunt begins at 11:30 at the ELC. Point your smart phone at the first QR code we give you, solve that puzzle to get information on where to go next.

This workshop will show you many free interactive tools that you can use to help you learn English. Come learn about Blogs, Comic Pages, Google Docs, Podcasts, Wikis, Talking Avatars, Movie Makers, Digital Posters, Digital Storytelling, and Talkgroups.
