ELC Spring 2014 events: Pool Night, 4 March 2014

ELC teacher Dan Burge (pictured right) took three UMAC students to Macau for a fun night of pool playing and darts. It was a great opportunity for a few people to have fun and use English in casual settings. Dan, an English teacher from England, business student Gabriel from Brazil (pictured left) and both Kiki (English student, pictured centre) and Ivory (business student) from Fujian in China took part in this activity.

Fun socializing began with the bus ride over to Macau to the pool facility. Both Kiki and Ivory had not played the game of pool before. Dan and Gabriel proceeded to teach both about how to hold the cue and hit the balls. Dan also taught the UMAC students some vocabulary on the game of pool such as cue, chalk, a “rest”, a double-back shot, a pocket, a pott e.t.c.Two players played two others and partners were interchanged at regular intervals. Drinks and pork puns were snacked on as the fun ensued.

After pool, Ivory went back to the campus for study. Dan, Gabriel and Kiki proceeded to play the game of darts and try to be the first to score 701 points to win. It was a great way to end a fun-packed evening where UMAC students could practice their English with a native English speaker from England.
