This semester began with a common teaching and learning experience for students in our General Education courses called the Common Module. ELC instructors and students came together for several team taught sessions during the first three weeks of classes which consisted of interactive language activities.
These interactive, student-centred lectures took place in large venues where students discussed and explored the language and skills required to do well in their studies and successfully adapt to university challenges. In addition to some interesting discussion on these important topics, students played games, took part in friendly competitions, and some students even participated in leading parts of the lectures!
The Common Module provided a wonderful opportunity for students to meet students from other majors and year groups, as well as the chance to share their study experiences and offer useful advice and insights to each other. It also provided an opportunity for the ELC instructors to work collaboratively and gain valuable insights into different ways of approaching the various topics.
