ELC Teacher Dan Burge hosted Rowan Atkinson Night for various students at UMAC where they were given a chance to practice their English in a social setting. Mr. Burge, a British citizen, is very passionate about his culture and is extremely fond of the British actor Rowan Atkinson who is one of the most famous celebrities in England. Mr. Burge started off proceedings by having a chat in a circle to get to know one another. It was good to see students from all over China such as Fujian, Zhuhai, Macau and Harbin. Afterwards, snacks were feasted on and a few of Mr. Burge’s favourite Mr. Bean clips were watched and discussed. Body Language was a topic that kept coming up and everyone admired Rowan Atkinson’s talent for having extremely funny mannerisms and actions. Mr. Burge also showed an episode of “Blackadder” where Rowan Atkinson plays a smart and witty butler, a character in strong contrast with that of the loveable joker, Mr. Bean. It was great fun. If you are free in 2 weeks on Tuesday the 22nd of April please come to Mr. Burge’s “Dating Activity” where there will be interesting discussions and videos shown on relationships, dating and the differences of boys and girls in Room ILG 126 from 17:30 and onwards.
