Ryan Hunter, ELC Testing and Language Laboratory Supervisor and Technology Advisor, continues to conduct training sessions to familiarize the faculty with the new features and functions of Moodle 2.5 and to aid them in the transition from the old 1.9 version.
On Wednesday, 15 September, Ryan covered the use of 4 features: Completion Tracking; Restricted Access; Badges; and Forum. Held in the computer lab, Ryan demonstrated how to access these features, discussed their benefits, their effects, and showed other options and uses of these features. He also showed how they would look like in actuality with other teachers taking the role of mock students.
The training lasted for about 50 minutes after which Ryan shared the use of Pixton. Pixton is software available on the internet which enables users to create their own teaching materials in comics form. This will enhance the quality of materials which is aimed to stimulate students’ interest and generate active participation in the classroom.
The Moodle 2.5 training will continue throughout the semester.
